A complete suite of custom architectural hardware for a collector's residence — door pulls, cabinet hardware, light switch plates, and custom hooks — all fabricated in blackened steel and unlacquered brass.
The architect specified that every metal element in the house should share a material palette — blackened steel for the structural and the functional, unlacquered brass for the decorative. Hardware manufacturers do not produce both in the same finish language. The hardware had to be fabricated.
The project required 340 individual pieces across 14 hardware categories. Each was drawn by the architect, reviewed by the client, and fabricated in a Minneapolis studio. The unlacquered brass will patinate naturally over time. That is the intention.
