Twelve slabs of matched Calacatta Oro marble, book-matched across a 22-foot island and three bathrooms. The veining continuous across every seam.
Book-matching at this scale requires sourcing matched slabs from the same quarry block and sequencing cuts so the veining mirrors precisely at each joint. Most fabricators do not attempt it on this scale. Fewer still execute it without visible seams at the countertop edge.
The honed finish required hand-work at every corner radius — the fabricator refused to use a CNC router for the final passes, citing the difference in feel between a machine radius and one worked by hand.
